Caroline created this portrait of Nigel, a Canine Companions for Independence service dog puppy in training. Nigel is a star in the Washington, DC, area, thanks to his bouncy personality and his day job at News Channel WUSA9, where his volunteer puppy raiser, Andrea McCarren, is an Investigative Reporter. Team Nigel recently held a very successful event at the National Press Club to educate people about CCI, to have fun and to raise mon ey for Canine Companions Veterans program.
Caroline will donate 100 per cent of profits from sales of Nigel items from this website to Canine Companions.
Founded in 1975, Canine Companions for Independence® is a non-profit organization that enhances the lives of people with disabilities by providing highly trained assistance dogs and ongoing support to ensure quality partnerships.
Caroline is a 29 year old young lady, who has cerebral palsy due to trauma at birth. She graduated in 2016 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design from the Art Institute. She uses the touch pad on her Mac and various programs such as Photoshop and Illustrator, to simply, but expressively, capture the emotions she feels from animals, creating art that is happy and unique. Caroline is most often inspired by her love of dogs and horses. She always has her service dog, Shelly, from Canine Companions by her side, and enjoys both therapeutic riding and carriage driving at Sprout Therapeutic Riding and Education Center in Aldie, VA.
